Gökyüzü Göktürk - ABOUT

Gökyüzü Göktürk is a songwriter, composer and independent music producer who works professionally as a software engineer and has maintained a deep connection with music since his high school years. The following English version preserves the structure and content of the Turkish text prepared for the website.

His interest in music grew not only from the melodies of the songs he listened to, but also from the ability of words to move beyond familiar patterns. He was particularly drawn to the unconventional forms of expression he encountered in English-language songs, the way words could acquire new meanings through rhythm, and how emotions could be conveyed without always being stated directly.

Over time, this interest developed into a desire to write his own lyrics. During his high school years, he began turning the words he wrote in notebooks into melodies with his own voice, recording the tunes he heard in his mind and attempting to compose songs with the limited resources available to him.

At the time, he did not have access to the equipment, community of musicians or studio facilities required to create professional instrumental arrangements. He also felt that the natural character of his voice was not suitable for every song he wrote. Some songs demanded a harder tone, some a more fragile one, and others an entirely different vocal colour.

For these reasons, many of the lyrics and melodies he had created remained unrealized as finished recordings for a long period of time.

Although music gradually moved behind everyday life and professional responsibilities, he never discarded or lost any of his work. He carefully preserved his lyrics, completed compositions, melodic ideas, demo recordings and production notes over the years.

A significant part of this body of work had already been completed in terms of lyrics and composition. However, without the equipment needed to build professional musical arrangements, access to an appropriate vocal sound, or suitable studio conditions, the songs could not be transformed into fully realized recordings. They simply waited for the time when they could finally be brought to life.

Some pieces existed only as a few lines, a short melody or a chorus that continued to live in his mind. Yet the majority of the catalogue was not made up of abandoned or incomplete ideas. It consisted of completed works that remained unreleased for years because the necessary production resources were not available.

His connection with music, however, was never completely lost.

Starting Again After Many Years

When AI-assisted music production technologies began to develop, Gökyüzü Göktürk returned to the lyrics he had preserved for years.

In his earliest experiments, he combined his own lyrics with AI-based music systems. The results allowed songs that had previously existed only in his imagination to become actual recordings for the first time.

It felt like opening a door that had remained closed for many years.

He soon realized, however, that simply giving lyrics to a system and accepting the result was not enough for his understanding of music production.

The identity of a song could not be determined by lyrics alone.

The point at which each instrument entered, the intensity of the drums, how closely the bass followed the melody, whether the guitars should be clean or distorted, how large the chorus should become, whether the energy should fall during the bridge and how the ending should resolve were all essential parts of the song’s narrative.

A verse beginning with only guitar and vocals would not create the same feeling as one beginning with a full rock band. Pulling the drums back before the chorus, leaving the space of a single breath or suddenly widening the guitar layers could change the meaning of the lyrics.

In the same way, a vocal delivered with fragility, anger, hope, irony or defiance could turn the same sentence into a completely different story.

For Gökyüzü Göktürk, artificial intelligence should not be a creator that completed the song on its own. It had to be a production tool that was directed, controlled and shaped through human decisions.

For this reason, he did not limit the music production process to writing prompts.

Turning His Voice into a Production Tool

To gain more direct control over his songs, he began acquiring recording equipment and working on vocal recording techniques.

He first performed the songs with his own voice. These recordings were not always intended to become the final vocals. They were also used to define the melody, syllable placement, emphasis, breathing points and emotional delivery.

Singing the correct notes was not enough on its own.

Words had to begin at the right moment. Certain syllables needed to be extended. Hard consonants had to avoid disrupting the rhythm, and breaths could not be allowed to interrupt the emotional continuity of a phrase.

During the recording process, he worked on details such as:

Pitch and note deviations
Entering the rhythm too early or too late
Notes that could not be sustained for the required duration
Uneven breath control
Syllables that sounded excessively harsh
Word endings being cut off too early
Uncontrolled vibrato
Volume differences between verses and choruses
Vocal characteristics that did not match the emotional tone of the song
Vocals failing to remain sufficiently present among the instruments

He improved the recordings through techniques including pitch correction, timing adjustments, formant processing, vocal layering and breath control.

When necessary, he altered the vocal character to produce harder, lighter, darker or brighter tones.

Despite these technical interventions, the objective was never to create a flawless and artificial voice. The purpose was to help the vocal communicate the song more accurately without losing its emotional quality.

A technically clean voice was not necessarily an emotionally correct one.

Sometimes a slight crack, an audible breath or a controlled break in the voice could create the entire emotional impact of a song.

For this reason, he continuously sought a balance between correcting technical imperfections and preserving the human feeling of the performance.

Refusing to Settle for a Single Result

When he began using his own vocal recordings and melodic direction to generate AI-assisted musical arrangements, the process became more controlled.

Even then, however, the first successful result was rarely considered the final work.

Gökyüzü Göktürk could test approximately twenty different arrangements and interpretations for a single song.

The same lyrics could be explored through:

Alternative rock
Hard rock
Ska-rock
Pop-rock
Acoustic rock
Atmospheric rock
Rock ballads
Latin pop
Electronic pop
Heavier guitar-driven arrangements

Even within the same genre, new versions could be created by altering the tempo, tonal centre, vocal colour, drum character or guitar arrangement.

The purpose of these experiments was not simply to select the recording that sounded most pleasant.

The objective was to find the form that carried the lyrics and emotional narrative of the song most accurately.

An arrangement could be technically powerful while obscuring the fragility of the lyrics. Another version could be melodically impressive but fail to intensify the anger intended for the chorus. In some interpretations, the vocal might feel correct while the instrumental structure remained behind the character of the song.

Each alternative was therefore evaluated not only in terms of sound quality, but also through its relationship with the lyrics, story, tempo, vocal attitude, arrangement and emotional coherence.

Gökyüzü Göktürk’s background in software engineering also influenced this method of working.

He approached production not as a process in which the correct result had to be reached in a single attempt, but as a system that could be tested, compared, debugged and improved at every stage.

He conducted A/B tests between different vocal tones, arrangements and mixes.

By listening to alternative versions of the same section consecutively, he evaluated which interpretation carried the lyrics more effectively, which guitar tone combined more successfully with the vocal, and which drum character established the correct movement for the song.

Sometimes numerous alternatives were produced for a transition lasting only a few seconds.

A guitar entering one bar earlier, a brief silence before the chorus or leaving the vocal alone at the end could alter the entire dramatic structure of the track.

AI-Assisted Characters and Distinct Artist Identities

The experiments carried out during the production process made it increasingly clear that every work could not be expressed through the same vocal character.

Some lyrics required a male alternative rock vocal, while others became far more powerful through a female rock voice. Some works demanded a slightly rough and forceful tone, while others gained meaning through a softer, more atmospheric or pop-oriented delivery.

Rather than forcing these differences into the limits of a single vocal identity, Gökyüzü Göktürk began developing distinct AI-assisted artist identities.

For each artist, he designed not only a different voice, but also:

A separate musical direction
A distinct visual identity
An individual stage character
A different language of expression
A unique world of albums and songs

These artists were not created as random variations of one another. They were developed as independent projects representing different musical directions emerging from the same creative centre.

While the lyrics and compositions were created by Gökyüzü Göktürk, the decision regarding which song belonged to which artist was made by evaluating the vocal character, musical genre, narrative and visual identity together.

The works released under the name Gökyüzü Göktürk represent the most personal and central part of this creative world.

Within these songs, loneliness, separation, loss, rebirth, holding on to life, love, freedom, social solidarity and the search for identity developed into interconnected narratives.

From One Creative Centre to Multiple Artist Worlds

Over time, this production approach expanded beyond the personal works released under the name Gökyüzü Göktürk and developed into a broader musical universe.

Recognizing that every song could not be expressed accurately through the same voice, stage character or musical identity, Gökyüzü Göktürk created independent artist projects with different vocal colours, genres, forms of expression and visual worlds.

These projects are not random characters presenting the same songs through different faces.

A separate creative identity is developed for each artist, including:

A distinctive vocal character
A main genre and related subgenres
The emotional world explored by the songs
A defined stage attitude and visual identity
A narrative structure continuing across albums
A specific language through which the artist communicates with listeners

One artist may follow a harder and more direct rock direction, while another may represent a fragile, atmospheric or introspective world.

Another project may focus on dance, Latin pop or summer energy, while a different one develops through alternative rock, pop-punk or melancholic narratives.

These distinctions are not created simply by changing vocal tones.

The process involves evaluating which character can communicate the lyrics most convincingly, which genre allows the composition to reach its true identity, and how the visual world can be integrated with the music.

Within these projects, Gökyüzü Göktürk takes on the roles of songwriter, composer, creative director, music producer and narrative designer.

From the first idea behind a song to its vocal character, from arrangement choices to album sequencing, and from visual identity to the world of the music videos and final mastering decisions, the entire process is managed from the same creative centre.

Within this structure, the works released under the name Gökyüzü Göktürk represent the most personal and direct part of the creative universe.

The other artist projects are extensions of the same songwriting and compositional approach, developed through different voices, genres and characters.

Although every artist possesses an independent world, musical continuity and narrative identity, all of the projects share the same central principle:

Technology can expand possibilities, but the identity of a work is defined by human experience, choice and creative intention.

Rebuilding the Songs in the Studio

The production process did not end once a suitable basic version of a song had been selected.

Every work was reconsidered in the studio.

Sections were examined, unnecessarily extended passages were shortened, certain transitions were reconstructed and the instruments were positioned according to the emotional development of the song.

When necessary:

Introductions were rearranged
Vocals were made to begin earlier
Long instrumental passages were shortened
Pre-chorus builds were strengthened
Bridge sections were restructured
Guitar and drum transitions were altered
Vocal layers were added or reduced
Background vocals were reorganized
Unwanted sounds were removed
The ending of the track was redesigned

In some songs, even the opening seconds were changed numerous times.

In contemporary listening habits, the first contact between a song and its listener carries considerable importance.

This approach, however, was not driven solely by commercial concerns.

If an unnecessary introduction delayed the emotional arrival of the song or prevented it from reaching its central statement quickly enough, that was also considered a creative problem.

For Gökyüzü Göktürk, arrangement did not mean placing a few additional sounds over an existing instrumental foundation.

It meant constructing the story of the song accurately over time.

The verse, pre-chorus, chorus, bridge and ending were not treated as disconnected sections, but as different stages of the same emotional progression.

The Mixing and Mastering Process

As music production progressed, knowledge of composition and arrangement alone was no longer sufficient.

For a song to be heard professionally, the mixing and mastering processes also had to be understood.

Gökyüzü Göktürk worked on frequency balance, stereo space, dynamic control, loudness, vocal clarity and instrumental separation.

He acquired new equipment and software, comparing the recordings through different headphones, speakers and listening environments.

He focused particularly on issues such as:

Preventing the vocal from disappearing between guitar layers
Avoiding high frequencies that could cause listening fatigue
Keeping the bass and kick drum from masking one another
Ensuring the guitars remained powerful without becoming muddy
Preventing vocal consonants from becoming excessively harsh
Preserving dynamics during the loudest sections of the song
Avoiding stereo width that weakened the centre of the mix

Over time, he also made mastering part of his own production chain.

Rather than simply making the songs louder, he aimed for them to sound balanced, clear and consistent across different platforms.

Comparisons were carried out between the tracks of an album to prevent them from having disconnected loudness levels or widely inconsistent tonal balances.

This process required a substantial investment in equipment, software, subscriptions and time.

The purpose, however, was not only to gain technical knowledge.

Gökyüzü Göktürk wanted the creative decisions to remain under his control as much as possible, from the first moment a song was written to the final recording that was released.

AI-Assisted, Human-Directed Production

Gökyüzü Göktürk does not view the use of artificial intelligence as something that should be hidden or diminished.

He considers it one of the tools available within contemporary production.

Within his production philosophy, however, artificial intelligence is not independently the artist, songwriter or creative director.

The idea behind the song, the lyrics, composition, central melodic direction, emotional purpose and intended narrative are determined by a human creator.

The decision regarding which result will be used is also human.

Unsuitable versions are rejected, the instrumental structure is reshaped, the vocal is directed, sections are edited and the final work is formed through human choices.

For this reason, defining the work only as “music created by artificial intelligence” would make a significant part of the production process invisible.

A more accurate description is:

AI-assisted, human-directed music production.

Technology has expanded the possibilities of production, but the identity of a song continues to come from choices, lived experience and creative intention.

For Gökyüzü Göktürk, the important question is not the name of the tool being used, but how much of the human creator remains present in the final work.

A song is not considered complete simply because it sounds good.

It must carry the emotion intended by its writer through the correct vocal identity and musical structure.

An Emotional Journey Across Three Albums

The songs released by Gökyüzü Göktürk gradually developed into an interconnected emotional progression.

“Yalnız Bir Gecede” focused on a character attempting to find direction within loneliness, loss, separation and darkness.

“Küllerimden Doğarken” explored the struggle to emerge from that darkness: finding a voice, falling again and eventually rising through personal strength.

“Benim Adım Gökyüzü” centred on what comes after rising again: learning to live, smile, dance and love once more, viewing the past from a new perspective and declaring one’s identity openly.

This development appeared not only in the stories of the albums, but also in their musical structures.

The darker and more melancholic atmosphere of the earlier works expanded into more energetic ska-rock, pop-rock, anthemic rock and other genre influences in the later releases.

Reinterpreting the same lyrics through different arrangements also became part of this transformation.

A song that had once been a heavy account of separation could later gain a danceable interpretation expressing emotional distance from the past.

The statement “I am still standing,” once delivered as a heavy promise at the end of an intense struggle, could become a celebration of freedom and renewed joy in another arrangement.

These reinterpretations reveal one of the central ideas behind Gökyüzü Göktürk’s approach to music:

The past may remain the same, but when a person changes, the meaning of the same words changes as well.

From Personal Stories to Collective Memory

Gökyüzü Göktürk’s songs do not focus exclusively on personal emotions.

The cities affected by the earthquakes of February 6, the lives that were lost and the communities attempting to rebuild by holding on to one another also became part of his work.

Having experienced the earthquake in one of the affected regions transformed the subject from an event observed from a distance into part of his personal memory.

Destruction, loss and the effort to rise again became inseparable from lived experience.

“Yeniden Doğar Bu Şehir” did not refer only to the reconstruction of buildings. It also addressed the rebuilding of security, daily life, memories and people’s belief in the future.

“Yeniden Doğar Türkiye” drew from social problems experienced in previous years and transformed them into a call for responsibility directed toward the future.

For Gökyüzü Göktürk, art is not only a way of expressing personal pain. It is also a means of bearing witness to the memory of the society in which one lives.

Gökyüzü Is More Than a Name

For Gökyüzü Göktürk, “Gökyüzü” is not merely an artist name.

It represents boundlessness, freedom, rising again and the ability to carry both darkness and light within the same vastness.

The sky can be stormy, silent, dark or completely bright.

Yet none of these states remains unchanged forever.

This idea also forms the foundation of his songs.

A person can suffer, become lost, fall and remain unable to hear their own voice for a long time.

None of this, however, has to become the ending of their story.

The music of Gökyüzü Göktürk is born precisely within this space of transformation:

Searching for light without denying the darkness,
rising without hiding that one has been broken,
recomposing the past without erasing it,
and continuing to make one’s voice heard no matter how harsh life becomes.

Combining the analytical approach of software engineering with the emotional and intuitive world of music, Gökyüzü Göktürk takes an active role in every stage of his work, from songwriting and composition to vocal direction, arrangement, production and mastering.

The songs that waited for years in notebooks and old recordings are no longer merely dreams created in the past.

Each one continues to live through a different voice, a different arrangement and a different story.

Because some passions do not disappear with time.

They simply wait for the right moment and the right tools to become real.
